REPORT: Musk poised to support JD Vance in 2028 presidential election

It has been made quite clear over the last few weeks that Elon Musk wants to mend fences with Donald Trump and the GOP.

Musk went from outrage over the BBB to starting a third party to now offering multiple olive branches to Republicans.

Now, reports are surfacing that Elon is not only shelving his third-party plans, but he is also looking to support JD Vance for a presidential run in 2028.

BBB outrage

After Musk left the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), he let loose about the BBB spending bill in Congress that was fully backed by Trump.

At the time, he stated, "I'm sorry, but I just can't stand it anymore.”

He continued, "This massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination."

With that X post, the feud between Musk and Trump started, and it got quite ugly for a hot minute, with Musk going so far as to make a rather radical announcement.

Third party

In July, Musk announced that he was going to start a new party to give voters more options.

At the time, he stated, "Today, the America Party is formed to give you back your freedom.”

Musk later outlined the strategy of the party, which I thought was brilliant.

Rather than going after the presidency, Musk wanted to land one or two key seats in the Senate and just a handful of seats in the House. This would enable him to more or less hold the swing votes for legislation, effectively controlling the government.

Change of heart

The Wall Street Journal has since published a piece suggesting that Musk is pumping the brakes on the party in an effort to maintain ties with Vance. Musk has already stated that starting a third party would likely sever those connections.

The report goes on to say that Musk wants to keep his relationship with Vance on good terms because he is likely to inherit the MAGA movement fTrump.

Musk, however, denied the Journal report, responding to inquiries about the article by saying, “Nothing @WSJ says should ever be thought of as true.”

I am not buying Musk’s comments, as reports recently surfaced that he has written some big checks to Republican PACs to fund their elections. I really thought Musk would hold true to the idea of a third party, but my gut on that was completely wrong, at least it would appear that way. We will keep an eye on this to see how it all shakes out.
