Halperin: Biden ready to drop bombs on Harris

I think everyone and their mother expected Kamala Harris to run for governor in California to try to save her political career.

Harris declined, instead announcing a book release and a nationwide tour to talk to everyday people.

Now, Biden insiders are warning Harris that if she thinks she is going to throw the former president under the bus, she had better think again.

Not running

For me, the only way Harris was going to revive her career was to become a two-term governor in California.

She has virtually no record on which to run, and based on how the last administration went, serving as a big-state governor, then winning re-election, would have put her in position “A” come 2032 or 2036.

Harris, however, declined to run for her state's top job, saying that the system was “broken” and she did not want to take part in it right now.

Instead, she stated that she wanted to tour the country, talk to Americans, then come up with her plan on how to move forward. Translation: She is running for the White House again in 2028.

Cashing in

The best days of earning power after an administration come in the first year or so, as books and speaking appearances are typically in high demand.

Harris, of course, cashed in with a book, stating, "Since leaving office, I've spent a lot of time reflecting on those days, talking with my team, my family, my friends, and pulling my thoughts together. In essence, writing a journal that is this book, 107 Days."

Her declaration continued, "With candor and reflection, I've written a behind-the-scenes account of that journey. I believe there's value in sharing what I saw, what I learned, and what I know it will take to move forward."

Harris was never really popular, so it will be interesting to see how this book is received, and the public's response should give us a really good signal as to her chances in 2028.

Be careful

Biden gave Harris many chances to boost her profile during his term in office, and she dropped the ball every time, usually serving up a word salad and blatantly failing at every task given.

In order for Harris to get past her disastrous tenure as VP and her failed election bid, she is likely to have to push Biden in front of a bus, but insiders are saying that she had better be careful because Joe and Jill Biden are locked and loaded.

Political analyst Mark Halperin explained, "If the Biden people decide that Kamala Harris is coming after Joe Biden, wait until you hear the Palin-esque stories about how much they tried to help her be prepared to be vice president and be in a position to run, and how they decided, ‘not happening. She’s not up to this.’ And if the Biden people feel threatened, you will hear stories about Kamala Harris as vice president that will not make her look good."

We already know there is tension between Jill Biden and Harris dating back to a 2020 presidential debate in which Harris all but called Joe a racist. Deep down, I think the former president despises this woman, and I have a feeling that his wife feels the same way. I think they would like nothing more than to have an excuse to end her career once and for all.
