South Carolina Democrat Annie Andrews took a larger paycheck from Everytown gun-control groups than from pediatric medical work, a Senate disclosure shows, as she runs on tighter firearm limits.
Breitbart News reported that a Senate finance disclosure listed $130,631 in pay to Andrews from the Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund and the Everytown for Gun Safety Support Fund. The same filing showed another $97,000 from Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, D.C.
Those figures put her Everytown compensation above the medical-center total. Andrews is the Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate in South Carolina and has built her public brand around gun policy as much as clinical work.
The disclosure also recorded pay for 13 speeches to children’s medical centers and pediatric groups across the country. She presents herself in campaign materials as “Dr. Annie Andrews,” often in a lab coat with a stethoscope.
A D.C. Chapter of the American Association of Pediatrics biography described her role in plain terms.
The biography called her:
"a gun violence prevention advocate and researcher and Senior Advisor at Everytown for Gun Safety and Moms Demand Action"
LinkedIn listed the senior adviser post from May 2023 through May 2025. She announced her Senate bid about a month after that role ended.
She had already left the Medical University of South Carolina in 2023. Reporting tied that exit to a full turn toward political advocacy, and Charleston’s WCBD-TV covered her launch of a PAC aimed at gun restrictions.
Her path also includes a failed 2022 run for Congress. The Senate race now places her against Republican Sen. Darline Graham, a contest that has already drawn heavy outside money and national names.
Former statewide executives have weighed in on her bid, including in coverage of how former South Carolina governors from both parties back the Democrat’s campaign.
Andrews’ campaign site frames gun policy as a core plank. It calls for “universal background checks” and for “banning weapons of war from our streets.”
Giffords PAC has endorsed her. Everytown and Moms Demand Action rank among the best-funded voices in the gun-control lobby, and Michael Bloomberg has long backed Everytown’s work.
Breitbart separately reported earlier this month that Bloomberg was putting $80 million behind Democrats’ effort to take control of Congress in the November midterm cycle. That cash race sits beside Andrews’ own disclosure totals and her years on the Everytown payroll.
Republican outside groups are moving cash into the same South Carolina contest, including a push described in reporting on a Senate GOP super PAC readying $5 million to support Darline Graham.
Andrews previously lived in Charleston and held a position at the Medical University of South Carolina before the 2023 resignation. After leaving, the senior adviser title, the speech circuit, and the PAC put her at the center of organized gun-control politics rather than day-to-day hospital shifts.
The disclosure does not spell out a full hour-by-hour clinical schedule. It does show the Everytown funds paying more than the D.C. medical center line, plus separate speech income tied to pediatric audiences.
Voters now meet a candidate who leads with medical credentials while the largest disclosed salary block came from Bloomberg-aligned gun-control groups. That contrast is on the page in the Senate filing, not in a press release.
Graham’s own primary path hardened with Trump’s backing, including the fight in which Darline Graham defeated Ralph Norman in the GOP runoff.
President Donald Trump held a rally in South Carolina last week to boost turnout for Graham and Republicans in the Palmetto State. The visit fit a wider pattern of top-level support for the GOP nominee in a seat Democrats hope to contest with Andrews’ profile and outside gun-control networks.
Trump’s South Carolina stops have included earlier travel covered when Trump headed to Myrtle Beach to rally behind Darline Graham before the runoff.
Andrews’ filing, biography, and LinkedIn dates form a straight timeline: 2022 House loss, 2023 MUSC exit, May 2023, May 2025 Everytown senior adviser role, then a Senate launch. The dollars attached to that adviser period and the speech circuit are now public.
Her platform language leaves little doubt about the policy destination. “Universal background checks” and a ban on what she calls “weapons of war” are the explicit asks.
Graham has staked out her own hard lines in the race, including positions tracked when Darline Graham backed ending the filibuster and pledged full support for Trump in a state debate.
South Carolina voters can read the disclosure for themselves. The largest salary line came from Everytown’s funds. The medical-center pay came second. The candidate still leads with the white coat.
When a Senate hopeful’s top disclosed paycheck comes from the gun-control machine, voters deserve to weigh that record beside every campaign photo in a lab coat.
