Donald Trump Jr. married Bettina Anderson on Saturday in an intimate ceremony on a private island in the Bahamas, with roughly 40 guests looking on, a deliberately low-key affair for a family that rarely does anything small.

The couple had legally married one day earlier in Palm Beach, Florida, before gathering close family for the island celebration. Saturday afternoon, the newlyweds shared a photo on Instagram Stories showing their wedding rings, a quiet personal touch from a pair who chose privacy over spectacle.

The guest list included Trump Jr.'s siblings Eric Trump, Ivanka Trump, and Tiffany Trump, along with their spouses. All five of Trump Jr.'s children, Kai, Donald III, Tristan, Spencer, and Chloe, attended as well.

Why the White House wasn't the venue

The couple reportedly considered holding the wedding at the White House but chose a more subdued setting. The decision came amid ongoing tensions related to the situation with Iran, and the family opted for a celebration that matched the moment.

President Donald Trump did not attend. He explained his absence in a Truth Social statement posted Friday:

"While I very much wanted to be with my son, Don Jr., and the newest member of the Trump Family, his soon-to-be wife, Bettina, circumstances pertaining to Government, and my love for the United States of America, do not allow me to do so. I feel it is important for me to remain in Washington, D.C., at the White House during this important period of time."

That statement tells you something about the man's priorities. A father skipping his eldest son's wedding because the country's business demands his presence, whatever you think of the politics, that's a choice with weight behind it.

A larger celebration with extended family and friends is expected later this year, and the White House remains a possible venue for that gathering.

Eric Trump speaks on the couple

Eric Trump, who attended the Bahamas ceremony, spoke to Page Six about his brother and new sister-in-law:

"Don and Bettina are wonderful together. I'm so proud to have witnessed so much of their journey as a couple. They truly light up around each other, and it's been amazing watching their story unfold. Couldn't be happier for them on their special day."

Eric has been a visible presence in the family's public life throughout the past year, including speaking candidly about his father's legal battles and standing alongside his siblings through a relentless political cycle.

An unnamed source told People magazine that "Bettina and Don Jr. got married on a glorious day in a place where they often visit."

A fast courtship, a familiar world

Trump Jr., 48, and Anderson, 39, began dating in 2024. He proposed in December 2025 after roughly a year together. Anderson, described as a philanthropist and model, had become a familiar presence at Trump family events in Palm Beach and Mar-a-Lago over the past year.

Earlier this year, Anderson celebrated her bridal shower at Mar-a-Lago, the storied Trump estate that has hosted multiple high-profile family weddings, including President Trump and Melania Trump's ceremony and Eric and Lara Trump's wedding. Ivanka Trump, Tiffany Trump, Lara Trump, and Arabella Kushner were all pictured at the shower.

The family has weathered enormous public scrutiny in recent years. Between FBI investigations, courtroom fights, and a political environment that treats every Trump family event as a news cycle, even a wedding becomes a public affair whether the family wants it to or not.

Anderson had not been previously married and does not have children. She was previously linked to businessman Beau Wrigley and was reportedly engaged before that relationship ended. Trump Jr. was married to Vanessa Trump from 2005 to 2018; the couple share five children. Vanessa Trump was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent a procedure.

The Trump family in public and private

For all the noise surrounding this family, the wedding itself was strikingly modest by Trump standards. Forty guests. A private island. No massive political donor list. No state dinner atmosphere. Just family.

Trump Jr. and his eldest daughter Kai appeared together on stage at the Liberty Inaugural Ball in January 2025, and the father-daughter bond has been visible throughout the second Trump presidency. In July 2025, Trump Jr. and Anderson were photographed on the tarmac at Teterboro Airport in New Jersey, awaiting the arrival of President Trump and Melania Trump.

The broader Trump media orbit has been busy on other fronts as well. The president has drawn attention for his combative media tactics, and his policy moves have continued to generate sharp reactions from Democrats on Capitol Hill.

But Saturday belonged to the family, not the political arena.

What comes next

The couple plans a bigger celebration with a wider circle of family and friends later this year. Whether that event lands at the White House remains an open question. Given the current geopolitical climate and the demands on the president's schedule, the venue and timing may shift again.

For now, Donald Trump Jr. and Bettina Anderson are married, twice over, legally in Florida and ceremonially in the Bahamas. The rings are on. The photo went up. The family showed up.

In a city and a culture that turns everything into a fight, a quiet wedding with 40 guests on a private island is about as close to normal as this family gets. Good for them.
