“What are the chances that three or four women, independently, who never met each other, would have similar experiences with one person?" That is Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) in 2018, arguing that Brett Kavanaugh must be guilty because multiple women had come forward.
Swalwell claimed that all arrows pointed in the same direction, which was exactly at Brett Kavanaugh. The arrows, however, were paper-thin, as there was no corroborating evidence to back up the claims against the future justice.
Over the last few weeks, explosive allegations have been made against Swalwell. These allegations, however, are corroborated by witnesses; the accounts have been published on major outlets, such as CNN and the San Francisco Chronicle. Even so, Swalwell has called the allegations “flat false,” having sent cease and desist orders to silence them, while having demanded that the women who made allegations against Kavanaugh “deserve to be heard.”
Is this yet another example of hypocrisy among the Democrat Party? I would argue no. A hypocrite is someone who has failed to meet their own standard. One thing is very clear right now… Swalwell never had a standard. He saw the allegations against Kavanaugh as a weapon, nothing more.
When Brett Kavanaugh was being vetted by Congress for a nomination to the Supreme Court, few were more vicious than Rep. Eric Swalwell.
There is no need to rehash the allegations made against Kavanaugh because they were never corroborated and ultimately debunked. What I am going to cover, however, is how Swalwell, with barely a thread to hang on, tried to ruin that man’s career and name.
In a September 2018 MSNBC interview, he stated:
"I saw continued demeaning of victims of sexual assault, people who deserve to be heard, people who deserve their allegations to be investigated and a president who wants to rush this through."
He also recommended bringing every person in who had made allegations against Kavanaugh:
"And, so, for Brett Kavanaugh's sake, if he is innocent, I hope tomorrow he opens his statement and says, 'You know what? Bring in all the victims, all of them to be questioned.' That will clear his name if he is indeed innocent."
One of the most damning statements made by Swalwell during the Kavanaugh confirmation is something that is clearly going to backfire on him now. He stated:
"What are the chances that three or four women, independently, who never met each other, would have similar experiences with one person?"
Then there are the X posts made by Swalwell at the time:
September 17, 2018:
"The #Kavanaugh defenders are trying to stand on the process/timing of the allegation and wish to ignore its substance. Would they prefer that she never had come forward? Is that what they're really suggesting?"
September 24, 2018:
"A lot of GOP senators are unfairly holding #Kavanaugh victims to criminal law standards for their accounts. If that's the case they should know this jury instruction: 'The testimony of a SINGLE witness can prove any fact.'"
These are the words of a man who had demanded that a man prove himself innocent rather than being proven guilty. He was taking unproven allegations and using them to crush a man, his name, his career, and his entire future. His tune has rather drastically changed now.
Journalist Steven Tavares sent out a post on X over the weekend, revealing that this conduct by Swalwell dated back to at least 2013.
On April 12, he posted to X:
“I’ve covered Eric Swalwell since he was a member of the Dublin City Council. Shortly after being elected to Congress in 2013, his behavior towards women was known by all levels of our local government and the Alameda County Democratic Party.”
The post continued:
“Don’t get it twisted. Nobody has been more critical of Swalwell over the years. I tried repeatedly to get the stories out. I can’t force women to speak out, and when they chose not to, I didn’t push. I also knew that Swalwell was known to threaten litigation.”
It is not a large leap to say that the DNC was aware of the allegations that had been made against Swalwell. They were not only ignored but also covered up by the party to facilitate this man’s career.
He ran for president, and up until his withdrawal from the California gubernatorial race, he was the leading Democrat in the race. It just shows the arrogance of the party and Swalwell to think they would be able to keep this covered up and the alleged victims silenced.
Not long after Tavares’ attempt to get someone to come forward against Swalwell, the California Democrat became involved with Christine Fang (Fang Fang), a Chinese operative who had already been cultivating relationships with numerous American politicians, reported Axios.
Fang worked on Swalwell’s 2014 campaign as a fundraiser, and it was alleged that the two had a sexual relationship. When Swalwell was questioned about it, he refused to answer any questions. His refusal to deny it was widely interpreted as confirmation.
At the time all of this was coming out, Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) refused to remove Swalwell from the House Intelligence Committee. Later, Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) did block him.
There was also an investigation, which, according to an ABC News report, there were no criminal charges or findings of wrongdoing by Swalwell, but that is beside the point in this case. Can we really afford to have people on a congressional Intelligence Committee who have been prone to being infiltrated by foreign operatives?
The current narrative against Swalwell broke when Capitol Hill Staffer Cheyenne Hunt started to circulate reports about women who claimed to have been sexually harassed by the congressman.
According to a report in the San Francisco Chronicle, Swalwell took advantage of a staffer on numerous occasions, also claiming corroborating evidence of her claims.
While remaining anonymous, she claimed that not long after she was hired, Swalwell started to send her naked pictures of himself, as well as having exposed himself in a car, and demanding oral sex from her.
During a 2024 event, she claimed that she blacked out after having drinks with Swalwell and awoke in the middle of a sexual assault. She claims she told him “no,” pushed him off, then texted a friend to tell her about the assault.
As I noted before, it often takes time for that door to be kicked in, but once it is, the allegations start to flow, and Swalwell was hit with a tsunami by CNN, which published accounts of three more women (as well as the former staffer) who claim that Swalwell had sexually assaulted them.
Swalwell’s camp denied the allegations, as well as his attorney sending a “cease and desist” order.
Legal expert Jonathan Turley made a great observation about Swalwell at this point, stating:
"Swalwell is hoping that voters will apply a different standard than the one he applied to Justice Brett Kavanaugh during his confirmation. When Kavanaugh was asserting his innocence, Swalwell was leading the mob."
Former Chief Counsel for Nominations for the Senate Judiciary Committee Mike Davis added:
"Oh, how I remember this hypocritical predator peddling these utterly bulls--- allegations against Kavanaugh."
While Nancy Pelosi refused to take action against Swalwell as the Speaker, she openly ripped him after these allegations were made, calling them “indefensible.” Pelosi’s action is very telling, as she is tapped into party leadership. She has never been one to prematurely judge anyone, but her actions here have my gut tingling that she was and has been aware of these issues with Swalwell, and now likely figures there is no more hiding it, so she wants to get in front of this before she becomes part of the wreckage.
Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) has filed a motion to expel Swalwell from Congress, but that will no longer be needed.
With the walls caving in and Swalwell having already canceled his gubernatorial campaign, today (April 13, 2026) he announced that he was going to resign his seat. According to a Fox News report, he stated:
"I am deeply sorry to my family, staff, and constituents for mistakes in judgment I've made in my past. I will fight the serious, false allegation made against me. However, I must take responsibility and ownership for the mistakes I did make."
He continued:
"I am aware of efforts to bring an immediate expulsion vote against me and other members. Expelling anyone in Congress without due process, within days of an allegation being made, is wrong. But it's also wrong for my constituents to have me distracted from my duties. Therefore, I plan to resign my seat in Congress."
Even though Swalwell has now announced that he is resigning his seat, I have put the table below together to show the sheer arrogance of the man’s attacks against Kavanaugh, knowing full well he had a closet of skeletons worthy of Halloween:

I often write about how deep hypocrisy runs in the political world, but this was not hypocrisy. This was arrogance about the power he thought he had, and confidence that the party would protect him because he was a rising star and a potential future presidential nominee (which would have been likely had he won the gubernatorial election).
And to think, this is just one aspect of the seedy underbelly of Swalwell, as we did not even scratch the surface on the many allegations made against him regarding campaign finance violations, such as hiring and paying an alleged illegal immigrant as a nanny, and living a lifestyle well beyond his means thanks to writing off expenses against campaign funds (not to mention donor-sponsored trips).
If there is one thing I am certain of, it is that there are several other members of Congress terrified that they will get caught up in Swalwell’s mess. We know he took at least one trip with Senator Ruben Gallego (D-AZ). Their relationship went well beyond Congress, and there are already eyes on him after the Swalwell resignation.
Our political system is broken. It is packed with arrogant, self-serving individuals who think they are untouchable. Sadly, party leadership on both sides of the aisle is complicit, as neither side will let something like morality get in the way of winning back power.
I am going to leave this report by speaking directly to Mr. Swalwell…
You claim to be innocent, sir, so I am going to suggest you follow the same advice you gave to Brett Kavanaugh. Rather than allow your alleged victims to speak, your attorney slapped them with a cease and desist order. If you are truly innocent, bring in all the victims, let them be questioned, and let the truth come out.
My guess is that you will not follow the words you once offered to Brett Kavanaugh. You see, you know what the truth is, and you have already tried to stop it from coming out once. You don’t want these women to be heard because you know what they are going to say. And that scares the living hell out of you.
