After a very short stint with the FBI, Dan Bongino is back on the airwaves doing what he does best. Unfortunately for Joe Kent, the top intelligence official who just resigned, Bongino has him in his sights, obliterating his claims about Iran not being a threat.
In my previous report, I covered Kent’s exit, as well as the statement made by DNI Tulsi Gabbard, and a recent hiring.
Gabbard was very guarded in her words. Bongino was not.
Once some people get out of “that” world, there is no going back, no matter how badly they wanted it.
For me, it was the food and beverage world. I was offered numerous positions after I left the industry in 2008, but there is just no way I could ever go back after finding my stride as a political writer.
For Bongino, who worked in several aspects of law enforcement, including a stint with the Secret Service, being appointed Deputy Director of the FBI seemed like a dream, but he did not even make it for a year.
Bongino announced he was stepping down in December 2025, but did so on good terms with Trump, who, according to a BBC report, stated that Bongino "did a great job" in office, and "wants to go back to his show.”
In early February, the New York Times reported that Bongino was, in fact, returning to podcasting.
One of the first things he addressed was the Epstein files, stating, “I wanted to see the files, folks. I said, ‘Don’t let it go.’ I meant it. We got elected, we looked at it. The file — what was in there was not what we thought would be in there.”’
He also offered some words that I suggest everyone heed in terms of what they hear and see online, stating, “Everything in this business, the opinion business, is sound bites and snapshots. It’s the exact opposite in federal law enforcement. It is not sound bites and snapshots. It is a very slow, methodical process.”
But that is really a confession of sorts because that is not what this business is meant to be. Don’t get me wrong, everyone needs a sound bite to get your attention, but you also need to be willing to tell both sides of the story, and far more importantly, the truth, to your followers. If you are pushing only one narrative, you are part of the problem.
I had a feeling that Bongino might have a little something to say about Kent, and I am glad he did, because I agree with him. This term "imminent threat," when it comes to terrorists, to me, is utterly ridiculous. You don’t wait until there is an imminent threat. You see the threat developing, you take it out.
Bongino tapped into his time with the FBI to push back against Kent’s claims, telling Fox News, "I don't know at what point you thought this wasn't an imminent threat after you've read a lot of the stuff I read, [and] by the way, that's just the open store stuff we can talk about on the air.
"The president, I promise you, has a bevy of material that… if he told you right now, you would come to the imminent threat conclusion in a snap."
My stance on this is firm in that I believe Trump was 100% right in moving forward with Operation Epic Fury, and I have made that clear from the outset. Unlike many of our elected officials on the left, I would prefer not to wait until the candle is lit to try to put it out. I see someone putting the candle in the holder, well, that is the time to address it.
