The United States knocked the Dominican Republic out of the World Baseball Classic with a call that has upset many, but I really don’t think it is as bad as people are making it out to be.
First, it is where the ball crosses the plate, not where it ends up in the glove. Second, in that situation, sorry, but that pitch is way too close to take. To be honest, if I am calling that pitch, it is in the strike zone when it crosses the front of the plate. That is a good call.
Today’s “thought” used a quote from Albert Camus to describe how politicians will often use a crisis to chip away at our rights. Today’s comment comes from Ben G. from my home state of Texas, who responded:
“Camus hit the bullseye. Every time there is a tragedy, the Left does not mourn. Instead, they mobilize. They use the welfare of the people as a smokescreen to rewrite the Constitution and strip away our liberties. They claim they want to keep us safe, but what they really want is to disarm the only citizens standing between them and absolute control. A disarmed population is a subjugated population.
“The Second Amendment was not written so we could go hunting. It was written so we could crush the exact kind of tyranny the political elite are trying to force on us right now. We must hold the line, refuse to surrender a single firearm, and completely dismantle their gun control agenda.”
