The United States is doing the heavy lifting with Israel against Iran, but now Trump is ringing the bell, with at least one nation ready to answer.
While many allies have decried the attack against Iran, now they are finally realizing where the right side of this battle is.
After President Trump called for support to keep the Strait of Hormuz open, the UK announced it is exploring all options to keep the key waterway secure.
Iran seemed to think that when push came to shove, most Middle Eastern countries would side with oil rather than the bad orange man, but that did not happen.
Iran was hung out to dry, so it started to attack nearby countries, employing the death by 1,000 cuts strategy.
To this point, the United Arab Emirates has been hesitant to attack, but after being blatantly threatened by Iran, the UAE announced that if necessary, it would defend, pitting one more Middle East nation against Iran.
The moves by Iran to attack tankers as well as locking down the Strait of Hormuz, a key waterway for energy transportation, have Trump rallying allies behind him.
Trump has significant American naval assets surrounding Iran, but he is now calling on other countries with a stake to finally get some skin in the game.
On Saturday morning, Trump posted, "Many Countries, especially those who are affected by Iran’s attempted closure of the Hormuz Strait, will be sending War Ships, in conjunction with the United States of America, to keep the Strait open and safe.”
His post continued, "We have already destroyed 100% of Iran's Military capability, but it's easy for them to send a drone or two, drop a mine, or deliver a close range missile somewhere along, or in, this Waterway, no matter how badly defeated they are.”
He added, "Hopefully China, France, Japan, South Korea, the UK, and others, that are affected by this artificial constraint, will send Ships to the area so that the Hormuz Strait will no longer be a threat by a Nation that has been totally decapitated."
Trump did what everyone else was afraid to do, and they all tried to cover themselves after Operation Epic Fury was announced, but the problems at the Strait of Hormuz impact global energy supplies.
This is now forcing the hand of enemies and adversaries alike if they want their oil. UK Secretary of State for Energy Security Ed Miliband reiterated that he would prefer a diplomatic solution, but then added, "You can rest assured that any options that can help to get the strait reopened are being looked at in concert with our allies."
Shadow Energy Secretary Claire Coutinho is applying pressure to Miliband, encouraging the country to explore sending its ships to help open up the Strait.
This is a monster win for Trump, as most allies have been insistent they are not getting involved. They have seen what Democrats have done here, and they don’t want to take the political hit in their countries for joining Trump. Now, however, they may not have an option. Rest assured, the sooner they jump in, the sooner this conflict is over.
