Senate Dem says he would fund Trump’s ‘dumb war’

A Democrat who called Operation Epic Fury a "dumb war" just agreed to fund it — and the reason tells you everything you need to know about where the party really stands.

Sen. Ruben Gallego (D-AZ), who has come to the forefront as one of the more visible mouthpieces of the Democrat Party, has repeatedly called the conflict “dumb.”

Yet, now he says he will support funding the operation, giving Trump a monster win in the Senate from the opposition.

Dumb war

Gallego has accused Trump of being led by the nose by Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu.

He stated, “And what are our country leaders doing? They’re following Netanyahu, who has literally told us — he just told on TV — that he’s been trying to do this for 47 years.”

He continued, “There’s a lot of ways that we could be supportive of Israel. There’s a lot of ways that we could defend Israel’s existence, its sovereignty. I’m 100 percent for that. But we don’t need to go to war for them, especially when it’s a dumb war.”

I guess Gallego would prefer that we allow Iran to develop nukes before being forced to take them out. Or maybe he just has a soft spot for terrorists.

Experts say it's illegal

I did a rather significant piece on the claim that this conflict is illegal, but we need to keep hammering this simply because Democrats are refusing to back down from this claim.

I just finished reading a piece in The Guardian making the same claim, so now the media is pushing Democrat talking points again.

The report claimed, “The Trump administration is waging an illegal war on Iran, one that defies both the US [C]onstitution and international armed conflict laws, according to several legal scholars and bipartisan lawmakers.

“The Senate will vote Wednesday on whether to halt Donald Trump’s military offensive, which he launched on 28 February. Hundreds of people, including six US personnel, have been killed in a conflict that has now expanded to Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Israel and the Persian Gulf.”

I’ll fund it

Well, if the operation is illegal, as Dems and the media are claiming, it should not be funded, yet Gallego has already come forward to say he would vote in favor of funding it.

Gallego said he would fund it, but with stipulations. He confirmed to CNN, “I’m going to say that in my opinion, I want to see at least 50 percent of that money has to come from the Gulf States and from Israel.”

Then he took his shot at Trump, stating, “We’re using our stockpile. We’re using our taxpayer money to protect those countries. At the same time, we’re cutting Medicaid, we’re cutting food stamps.”

It’s not dumb or illegal, and Gallego knows it. His vote proves that. The fact of the matter is that he does not want to be on record saying he blocked funding to eliminate terrorists from the world. He is trying to get the best of both worlds here, but I won’t let him have that.
