While it was likely that Trump would have called for an attack against Iran in the near future, it was Israel’s determination to hit Iran now that forced Trump to activate Operation Epic Fury.
This was a plan that had been in the works for some time, and it was clearly going to happen, with the only question being when.
Recent reports have confirmed that Israel decided the time was now, and rather than hang an ally out, Trump decided to move forward with the plan to destroy any hope Iran had to restart its nuclear weapons operations.
Trump has taken considerable heat after the announcement of the operation.
The biggest one being, “What comes after?”
To be fair, that is always a gamble when going after a regime like this, but that was not necessarily the endgame here.
A regime change would be an added benefit, but the real target was ending all possibilities of Iran being able to rebuild its nuclear weapons program and developing a long-range missile program to deliver its payload to American soil.
There is no doubt that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu forced Trump’s hand here, but this attack was going to take place regardless. It was just a matter of when.
Netanyahu explained, “The reason that we had to act now is because, they were — after we hit their nuclear sites and their ballistic missiles program, you’d think they would learn a lesson. But they didn’t, because they’re unreformable.
“They’re totally fanatic about this, about the goal of destroying America. So, they started building new sites, new places, underground bunkers that would make their ballistic missile program and their atomic bomb programs immune within months. If no action was taken now, no action could be taken in the future.”
This is the information that the media is ignoring. There was a danger, yet Dems and the media seem to believe that we needed to wait for “imminent” danger before taking the threat out. I disagree.
Democrats are now pushing back, more or less accusing Trump of wanting this war and that the attack was not necessary.
For instance, Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA) stated, “This is still a war of choice that has been acknowledged by others that was dictated by Israel’s goals and timeline.”
Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) responded, “Because Israel was determined to act with or without the U.S., our commander in chief and the administration and the officials [in the Cabinet] had a very difficult decision to make. They had to evaluate the threats to the U.S., to our troops, to our installations, to our assets in the region [and] beyond.”
This was far from an ideal situation, but sometimes when opportunity knocks, you have to be ready for it. There were clear oversights, one of which I will get into in the next report, but I firmly believe Trump made the right call here.
