The US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has confirmed what I have been reporting for weeks… Minnesota's childcare agency wasn't checking attendance records, wasn't pursuing fraud tips, and wasn't doing its job.
And Governor Tim Walz wants YOU to pay for the mess he created.
HHS has now claimed that Minnesota’s childcare agency was not verifying attendance records or pursuing fraud tips when they were made, which likely would have prevented much of the fraud taking place.
Before we get to the latest fraud in the state, you have to understand just how mismanaged this state is and how out of touch Walz is with his current situation.
After the initial fraud went viral due to the reporting of Nick Shirley, Trump stepped up the presence of immigration enforcement in the state. After two protesters were shot and killed by agents, Trump decided to dial down the presence to de-escalate the situation.
After ICE more or less left the state, Governor Tim Walz decided he was going to shake down the government, demanding $203 million, stating, "The federal government needs to pay for what they broke here. There [is] going to be accountability on the things that happened, but one of the things is the incredible and immense costs that were borne by the people of this state.”
The government did not break anything, and I truly hope that Trump is not even considering sending this money. This mess was brought on by a governor who looked the other way while illegal immigration and fraud were taking place right under his nose.
Walz was not done just yet, as they then asked for a $10 million business relief package for businesses he claims were impacted by the immigration crackdown in the state.
Walz stated, “What can we start doing on economic recovery? The damage that’s been done to our economy, specifically the small business owners, and more specifically, to immigrant small business owners.”
Matt Varilek, the Commissioner of the Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED), added, “A lot of workers don’t feel comfortable showing up. A lot of customers don’t feel good showing up. So, we’re seeing massive reductions in foot traffic, massive reductions in revenue.”
Again, if the state had not been a sanctuary state, this would never have happened. If our immigration laws were followed and enforced, this would not have happened. And if Walz did not look the other way while fraud was being committed, this would not have happened.
The HHS is now claiming that the state government was clearly ignoring the problem, having found that the state childcare agency was not checking attendance records, nor was it pursuing tips of fraud being conducted at these childcare facilities.
The state has since been informed that it had “not established adequate controls to verify the accuracy of county-issued provider payments based on attendance of children.” Laurie Todd-Smith, HHS ACF deputy assistant secretary for early childhood development, added, “Minnesota did not demonstrate that they are currently implementing required program integrity training for providers across the state.”
So, the state was relying on the honesty of the businesses, as it only required them to affirm that they read all requirements. Then the state gave its stamp of approval.
This state is an open door waiting to be robbed, and Walz has done very little to stop it. Yet, Democrats continue to defend him. This should end all of their careers, as they are advocating for the theft of tax dollars. And we wonder why this nation is nearly $40 trillion in debt. Every lawmaker in office at the state and federal levels should be ashamed of themselves for allowing this to happen.
