UN Ambassador Mike Waltz tore into an Iranian diplomat after being threatened on the UN floor.
United Nations’ sessions have gotten far more interesting since the first Trump administration.
We have seen people land some shots, but not like this.
Tensions between the United States and Iran were already high before the strike this weekend, but they have now both figuratively and literally blown up.
On Saturday, it was announced that the United States had launched Operation Epic Fury.
Trump announced that the current regime presented an imminent danger, which allowed him to use the War Powers Act to strike without full congressional approval.
Nobody expects this to be a forever war, but it has not only pitted the United States against Iran, but Democrats have once again taken up for the enemy.
When it was announced that the Supreme Leader was killed, many people in Iran and around the world started to celebrate.
Leadership in Iran, what’s left of it, has vowed revenge, however.
Iran's parliamentary speaker, Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf, stated, "You have crossed our red line and must pay the price. We will deliver such devastating blows that you yourselves will be driven to beg."
Trump responded, "THEY BETTER NOT DO THAT. IF THEY DO, WE WILL HIT THEM WITH A FORCE THAT HAS NEVER BEEN SEEN BEFORE!"
The floor of the United Nations also featured fireworks between the two countries, as Iranian and US diplomats traded punches.
Following the launch of the operation, Amir-Saeid Iravani, Iran’s ambassador to the UN, warned Ambassador Waltz, “I advise to the representative of the United States to be polite. It will be better for yourself and the country you represent.” He was clearly mistaking the United States to be a country afraid of Iran.
Waltz fired back, “This representative sits here, in this body, representing a regime that has killed tens of thousands of its own people, and imprisoned many more, simply for wanting freedom from your entire tyranny.”
I have zero doubt we will prevail in what I expect to be a short-lived operation. I do have one concern, however: the dwindling supply of military supplies and resources. Honestly, if I were Trump, I would be invoking the Defense Production Act immediately before this becomes a dire situation.
