Donald Trump had a plan regarding cartels when he took office, and he has delivered.
Trump made it a primary point of focus that he was going to try to eliminate cartels from the picture completely.
The big story this weekend was Jalisco New Generation (CJNG) drug cartel's Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes being shot and killed, but this was really a culmination of Trump’s plan being carried out.
A total of four CJNG cartel members were killed during an operation that saw nearly 30 people killed on both sides of the fight, including 25 Mexican National Guardsmen.
Additionally, a top prosecutor in the Mexican government was shot and killed.
After the operation was carried out, the cartel came out firing in revenge, with violence erupting throughout Mexico.
Mexican authorities have since claimed that things are “calm” in most parts of the country, but there are still bursts of violence being reported.
While it is not really making headlines, this was all part of Trump’s plan to crush the cartels.
The boat strikes are getting all the attention from Democrats and the media, but the New York Post reported that nearly 100 suspected cartel members have been handed over to the U.S. government by Mexico.
Attorney General Pam Bondi stated, “As President Trump has made clear, cartels are terrorist groups, and this Department of Justice is devoted to destroying cartels and transnational gangs.”
She continued, “We will prosecute these criminals to the fullest extent of the law in honor of the brave law enforcement agents who have dedicated their careers — and in some cases, given their lives — to protect innocent people from the scourge of violent cartels.”
I just read a great piece in Fox News by Peter Pinedo on how Trump’s “total elimination” strategy has paid off in this fight against the cartels and drug traffickers.
After numerous seizures were successfully carried out leading into September, DEA Administrator Terrance Cole stated, "Let this serve as a warning.”
He continued, "DEA will not relent… This focused operation is only the beginning — we will carry this fight forward together until this threat is defeated."
Were this any other president, this story would be front-page news, and it would be all over cable news. Even if this were a Democrat, the GOP would be applauding the effort. Yet, because it is Donald Trump, this monumental achievement, one that is actually making a dent in the drug trade in this country, is being completely ignored by the media and political opposition.
