Governor Tim Walz would appear to have another budding problem on his hands.
After several scandals involving voter rolls and registrations, yet another one has popped up.
This time, a local politician is raising concerns over missing information for 3,000 people.
Going back to July 2025, our ears went up over a scandal in Minnesota on the voter registration front.
A couple had admitted to having filled out hundreds of fraudulent voter registration forms. The two defendants, Ronnie Williams, 58, and Lorraine Lee Combs, 57, pleaded guilty to registration fraud.
Williams reportedly worked for a foundation where he was being paid to register voters, but he apparently took it upon himself to fill out the forms and submit them, having done so over 500 times.
Minnesota Secretary of State Steve Simon stated, “From time to time, there are batches or groups of one or two or a handful. But I can’t recall one this large.”
While massive fraud was being exposed in the state, it was also being publicized that Minnesota not only has no voter ID requirement, but it was also allowing registered voters to “vouch” for other voters.
When Minnesota state Rep. Patti Anderson, vice chair of the Minnesota House Fraud Prevention and State Agency Oversight Policy Committee, was asked if illegal immigrants could use their driver’s licenses under the Tim Walz-signed legislation to vote in an election, she refused to directly answer the question.
The law in question is the Democracy for the People Act (HF3/SF3), where a registered voter is able to vouch for as many as eight other voters who do not have the proper information to register to vote on election day.
Walz did not invent the vouching system, but his administration expanded upon it, raising a lot of eyebrows in terms of how secure an election can be if you merely need to vouch for voters. Even if they did find the fraud, it would be far too late after the election.
State Rep. Pam Altendorf recently came forward to express concerns after finding issues with the state’s current voter rolls.
Altendorf stated, "Why is there such an effort to block us or any election integrity group to see this information? If they're clean, that's great. And if not, if [Minnesota Secretary of State] Steve Simon is unable or unwilling to clean our voter rolls, then we absolutely have to get federal help because this is disenfranchising every legal voter in Minnesota."
When she reviewed the records, she said she found nearly 3,000 active voters who had information missing from their registration data. She also claimed to have found numerous voters over 100 years old.
At best, this is sloppy work by state election officials that needs to be addressed. At worst, well, I don’t think I really need to go into that.
