While his state burns, California Governor Gavin Newsom continues to travel around the country and the globe to build his profile.
Newsom is now making his second overseas trip to attack Trump on the global stage.
Well, the White House just answered back.
Gavin Newsom is a hypocrite of the highest caliber.
One moment, he is attacking Donald Trump for not acting presidential when he speaks or posts, and in the next, he is selling Donald Trump knee pads to finance his presidential run.
During the World Economic Forum in January, Newsom did nothing but criticize Trump every time he opened his mouth.
At one point, he stated, “I can’t take this complicity of people rolling over. I should have brought a bunch of knee pads for all the world leaders.”
Then he touted the swag that he is selling, stating, “The last round of knee pads sold out, just as our law firms are selling out. Many American universities are selling out, and yes, many corporate leaders are selling out to this administration.”
One of the other comments about Trump by Newsom was, “This is diplomacy with Donald Trump? He’s a T. rex. You mate with him or he devours you. One or the other.”
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent called him out for the silly comments, stating, “To say strange things like, ‘President Trump is a Tyrannosaurus rex,’ what the hell does that mean. I could say Gavin Newsom is a brontosaurus with a brain the size of a walnut.”
I have criticized Trump for how he treats his fellow Republicans more times than I can count, but rarely will you hear me complain about how he negotiates deals on the world stage.
When it comes to discussing trade deals and other policies, I am all for our president being a bully to get this country the best possible deal. Does anyone really think our NATO allies would have upped their contributions without Trump swinging the big stick?
This weekend, Newsom was joined by a slew of congressional Democrats, including AOC, at the Munich Security Conference. Mind you, Democrats ripped into Republicans for leaving DC during the first shutdown, but now they are all in Germany rather than being in DC to negotiate a deal to end the partial government shutdown, but that’s okay.
The White House fired out, “Gavin Newscum and AOC should be fixing California and New York’s many problems, but instead, they are frolicking in Europe, where no one knows or cares who they are.”
The statement continued, “Thankfully, Americans will always have strong leadership in President Trump, who is working day in and day out to defeat inflation, secure our border, deport migrant criminals, and restore peace through strength.”
The only issue I have with that statement is the silly nickname being used again. If this White House wants to be taken seriously on serious issues, drop the name-calling and hammer the issue. Remember, it is not the MAGA faithful that Trump needs to convince right now; it is the people with Trump fatigue that they need to get back in his corner.
