Schumer needs to do better research, as the report he quotes in that post actually gives far different statistics, had he actually taken the time to read it. Furthermore, as we have often seen, many crimes that the average person would consider to be violent or disturbing have been removed from the stats.

Today’s “thought” was inspired by a Winston Churchill quote that centered on having the courage to move forward even after defeat. Our reader comment today comes from Jeremy J. from my home state of Texas, who stated:

“Churchill saved the free world because he didn't quit when London was burning. Today, we have universities canceling classes because students are ‘stressed’ by an election result or a speaker they disagree with. We have stripped the grit right out of the American character with participation trophies and ‘safe spaces.’

“Failure is the only way you learn how to stand up. If you shield kids from every stumble, you are just setting them up to shatter the moment real life hits them. We need to stop protecting them from failure and start teaching them how to punch back.”
