Portland mayor tells ICE to get out over protest response

Donald Trump has found himself in another pickle over the response to an anti-ICE riot.

This time, it is the mayor of Portland who is outraged.

The city’s mayor is now demanding that Trump remove all agents after tear gas was used on protesters.

Protests erupt in Portland

I know this may surprise people, but Portland is the latest hot spot in the country that has been taken over by anti-ICE protests that are getting out of control.

For weeks, the city’s streets have been occupied by leftists who want to have immigration agents removed from the picture so illegal immigrants can roam freely.

After two American citizens were shot and killed by immigration agents, the temperature was turned up, and Democrats poured gasoline on the fire.

For instance, Sen. Jeffrey Merkley (D-OR) stated, "Horrific—another senseless execution of a citizen by Trump's lawless federal agents. Federal agents are terrorizing communities in Minnesota, Oregon, and across the country," Sen. Merkley said. "Kristi Noem must go. Not one more penny for ICE."

Ask me nicely

After the second shooting, Donald Trump sent Tom Homan in to try to de-escalate things, as well as clean up the PR mess created by DHS Secretary Noem.

Trump then announced, “I have instructed Secretary of Homeland Security, Kristi Noem, that under no circumstances are we going to participate in various poorly run Democrat Cities with regard to their Protests and/or Riots unless, and until, they ask us for help.”

He continued, “We will, however, guard, and very powerfully so, any and all Federal Buildings that are being attacked by these highly paid Lunatics, Agitators, and Insurrectionists. Please be aware that I have instructed ICE and/or Border Patrol to be very forceful in this protection of Federal Government Property.”

Trump concluded, “Therefore, to all complaining Local Governments, Governors, and Mayors, let us know when you are ready, and we will be there — But, before we do so, you must use the word, ‘PLEASE.’ Remember that I stated, in the strongest of language, to BEWARE — ICE, Border Patrol or, if necessary, our Military, will be extremely powerful and tough in the protection of our Federal Property.”

Here we go again

Over the weekend, parents decided that it was a good idea to bring children to the protest, where agents wound up using tear gas to disperse the crowd. So, now Portland Mayor Keith Wilson is doing his best Jacob Frey impersonation, demanding that ICE leave his city.

He stated, "Today, federal forces deployed heavy waves of chemical munitions, impacting a peaceful daytime protest where the vast majority of those present violated no laws, made no threat, and posed no danger to federal forces.”

He continued, "To those who continue to work for ICE: Resign. To those who control this facility: Leave. Through your use of violence and the trampling of the Constitution, you have lost all legitimacy and replaced it with shame.” The statement went on, but it is not worth the space it would take up on these pages, as it was more of the same we have heard from the rest of the Democrat Party.

This would be my advice to Trump. Freeze federal funding to all sanctuary cities and states. Force them to go to court to get this sanctuary status settled once and for all. Tell these cities and states they can have all the illegal immigrants they want, but they won’t get federal money, and the second those illegals cross over to a red state, which are all cooperating with ICE, the illegals will be peacefully removed. If these people want to burn their cities, let them. If they want illegal immigrants to tap out their resources, let them, just don’t give them any federal money to burn in the process.
