A little something is brewing in the state of Georgia that has fallen off the radar because of everything that is happening in Minnesota right now.
Last month, the Trump administration sued the state of Georgia for its voting records, but the suit was tossed because it was filed in the wrong city.
Then, suddenly, the FBI just decided to raid the offices.
In mid-December, the administration announced that it was going to sue Georgia to force the release of its 2020 voting records.
The suit called for the state to turn over "all used and void ballots, stubs of all ballots, signature envelopes, and corresponding envelope digital files from the 2020 General Election in Fulton County.”
The suit was filed based on the allegation that Fulton County had violated the Civil Rights Act.
Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon stated, "At this Department of Justice, we will not permit states to jeopardize the integrity and effectiveness of elections by refusing to abide by our federal elections laws. If states will not fulfil their duty to protect the integrity of the ballot, we will."
In what is a monumental mistake, Dhillon filed the suit in the wrong city.
The suit was filed against Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, whose office is in Macon, but the suit was filed in Atlanta. That being the case, the judge had no choice but to toss the case because it was filed in the wrong venue.
Raffensperger, who is no friend to Trump, responded, “I will always follow the law and follow the Constitution. I refuse to violate the oath I took to stand up for the people of this state, regardless of who or what compels me to do otherwise.”
Rather than file the case in the right city, it would appear that the administration decided to take another route.
In December, it was acknowledged that more than 300,000 votes were counted that did not include the required poll-worker signature on the tabulation tapes. Now, I don’t know if this is what Dhillon was seeking in her suit, but that is surely how the next piece of business will be portrayed in the media.
The FBI showed up at the Fulton County Election Hub and Operation Center and seized a bunch of records, with the local FBI office confirming the raid, stating, “FBI Atlanta is executing a court authorized law enforcement action at 5600 Campleton Fairburn Rd. Our investigation into this matter is ongoing so there are no details that we can provide at the moment.”
The national FBI office provided less information, stating, “The FBI is conducting court-authorized law enforcement activity. No other information is available at this time.”
This is going to get very interesting, and if things settle down in Minnesota, I would bet just about anything that this story flies to the front page of most publications. They will villainize FBI Director Kash Patel, but this one might actually have some teeth to it. This is a very risky move by the administration, but honestly, with everything that is taking place in Minnesota, there was no better time to do this.
