This week, former President Barack Obama entered the fray by condemning DHS operations.
Democrats seem to forget that during his presidency, Obama was nicknamed the “Deporter in Chief.”
Not to mention, he actually awarded Tom Homan with the 2015 Presidential Rank Award.
Once again, Democrats look at the outcome only in regard to the shooting and death of Alex Pretti.
The latest to pile on is Barack Obama, who posted to X, “The killing of Alex Pretti is a heartbreaking tragedy. It should also be a wake-up call to every American, regardless of party, that many of our core values as a nation are increasingly under assault.”
He added, “People across the country have been rightly outraged by the spectacle of masked ICE recruits and other federal agents acting with impunity and engaging in tactics that seem designed to intimidate, harass, and provoke and endanger the residents of a major American city.”
I see how he avoided talking about sanctuary cities, which blatantly ignore federal immigration laws, which brings us to a time when Obama enforced our immigration laws.
Believe it or not, there was a time when Democrats believed in legal immigration, and during his first term, Obama was deporting illegals at unprecedented rates.
Obama addressed the idea of ignoring our immigration laws on a moral stance, stating, "There are those in the immigrants’ rights community who have argued, passionately, that we should simply provide those who are [here] illegally with legal status or at least ignore the laws on the books and put an end to deportation until we have better laws. And often this argument is framed in moral terms: Why should we punish people who are just trying to earn a living?”
He continued, "I recognize the sense of compassion that drives this argument, but I believe such an indiscriminate approach would be both unwise and unfair. It would suggest to those thinking about coming here illegally that there will be no repercussions for such a decision, and this could lead to a surge in illegal immigration. And it would also ignore the millions of people around the world who are waiting in line to come here legally.”
Oddly enough, the same man rounding up illegals for Obama, Tom Homan, is the same man who was rounding up illegals now for Donald Trump. In fact, Obama put a medal around his neck for it.
In 2015, Barack Obama gave Homan the Presidential Rank Award for distinguished service, and everyone applauded and complimented Homan for how well he was at deporting illegal immigrants out of the United States.
Homan’s boss at the time, ICE Director Sarah R. Saldaña, said she had the “utmost confidence in Mr. Homan and the work that he and all the women and men of ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations do every day. Tom and his team are dedicated to enforcing the law every day in order to protect national security, border security and public safety.”
Homan even admitted that deporting people is not exactly his favorite thing to do, but it’s the job, and the law has to mean something.
I really don’t understand why the GOP is not plastering that speech by Obama and the award ceremony for Homan all over the internet, then asking what changed from them to now. The hypocrisy on this is thick enough to cut with a knife.
