What happened in Minnesota between an ICE agent and a protestor this week was predictable, and I have been saying as much for weeks.
When you get people riled up and try to trigger them, eventually someone will cross the line, and when that happens, and guns are involved, someone is likely to die.
President Donald Trump, while supporting the officer who fired the fatal shot, was clearly upset over the incident.
The media is already painting Renee Nicole Macklin Good, the woman who died in the altercation, as a saint of sorts.
Journalists have been posting articles about her status as a mother, a poet, a member of the LGBTQ+ community, and a liberal activist.
They are leaving a lot of context out of their accounts of the shooting, and my guess is that it is by design.
They don’t want to talk about what Good had allegedly been doing on the day of her death, or that she nearly ran an ICE agent over, or that her friend was filming the entire incident, as if they were going for a viral moment.
DHS Secretary Kristi Noem did not pull any punches in defending the federal agent involved.
She did call the shooting a tragedy, but then stated, "Our officer followed his training, did exactly what he's been taught to do in that situation.”
Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey took a different approach, stating of ICE agents, "They are not here to cause safety in this city. What they are doing is not to provide safety in America. What they are doing is causing chaos and distrust.”
Let’s start asking the hard questions… why was that woman blocking ICE agents from driving down the street? Why did she not obey their commands instead of putting the car in gear and slamming on the gas? What exactly did she expect the agent to do once he realized the car was coming at him?
Trump talked to the media soon after news of the shooting broke, stating, “It’s a terrible scene.”
He continued, “I think it’s horrible to watch. No, I hate to see it.”
Trump later added, “I want to see nobody get shot. I want to see nobody screaming and trying to run over policemen either. With all of it being said, no, I don’t like that happening,”
We have all seen the footage by now, and there are already about 1,000 different interpretations of what went down. This is a scenario about which everyone will have to make up their own mind, but I am convinced that it would never have happened if Democrats were not making this administration out to be one led by Hitler 2.0.
