I truly thought I had seen everything, and I really thought that ICE shooting a woman would force Democrats to step back for a second and rethink their strategies.
Instead, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz is turning up the heat.
Walz is not only encouraging residents to protest against ICE, but now he is talking about activating the National Guard to push back against federal law enforcement, more or less declaring war against the Trump administration.
After the weekend's arrest of Venezuelan President Maduro, we saw protests pop up around the country against the Trump administration's move.
It now seems as though those involved may have been paid actors, as we are seeing the same groups mobilizing to protest ICE in Minnesota.
Brandy Shufutinsky, director of the Education and National Security Program at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, provided the context, stating, "It's the same network of people that have thousands of Americans blocking the streets, waving communist and terrorist flags and attacking law enforcement and innocents.”
She added, “They are stoking the grievance industry that they built."
Let’s not ignore the fact that Democrats have been encouraging people to confront ICE and protest agents on the streets for months, and now we all see what happened as a result.
This would be a perfect time to step back and take a breath, right? That is not how Walz sees it. Instead, he wants to continue to use his constituents as pawns.
Walz stated, “The desire to get out and protest and to speak up to this administration of how wrong this is, that is a patriotic duty at this point in time.”
What happens when a bigger crowd approaches ICE agents making arrests? Do they really think that one person's death is going to be the end of it if people continue to show up to protest?
Walz appears to be ready to mobilize his National Guard to face off against federal agents in his state.
He stated, “We have soldiers in training prepared to be deployed if necessary. A warning order is a heads up for folks, and these National Guard troops are our National Guard troops.”
The governor then added, “To Americans who are watching this, if you’re in Portland or you’re in L.A., or you’re in Chicago, or you’re wherever, they’re coming next. Stand with us against this.”
Read those words very carefully, as I believe they speak for themselves.
