If you think climate change activists were losing their minds before, wait until they get word of Donald Trump’s latest move.
The president has decided that many of the global organizations to which the United States belongs are wasteful endeavors, so he is withdrawing from them.
In all, the United States has pulled out of 66 organizations, and liberal activists are about to have a meltdown over it.
During Trump’s recent appearance at the United Nations, he left jaws hanging open when he called climate change a “con job.”
While addressing the UN General Assembly, Trump stated, "This 'climate change,' it's the greatest con job ever perpetrated on the world, in my opinion. All of these predictions made by the United Nations and many others, often for bad reasons, were wrong.”
He continued, “They were made by stupid people that have cost their countries fortunes and given those same countries no chance for success. If you don't get away from this green scam, your country is going to fail."
Climate change activists have been ringing the alarm bell since the 1890s, much louder since the 1960s, and James Hansen really set the world on fire in 1988. I think most people would agree about the dangers of pollution to the environment, but when you have been clamoring about the world ending in a decade since the 1890s, the message gets lost as people continue to cry wolf.
Former VP Al Gore, a man who has zero scientific background, continues to be the face of this movement on the left.
Just a few days ago, he was speaking about climate change, stating, "The ongoing work of the IPCC, UNFCCC, and other global institutions remains essential to safeguarding humanity’s future.”
He continued, "By withdrawing from the IPCC, UNFCCC, and the other vital international partnerships, the Trump Administration is undoing decades of hard-won diplomacy, attempting to undermine climate science, and sowing distrust around the world.”
Gore was referring to a memo from Trump explaining that the United States would soon be withdrawing from these organizations, and the president just delivered on his promise.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio bore the bad news to climate activists, announcing, "Today, President Trump announced the U.S. is leaving 66 anti-American, useless, or wasteful international organizations. Review of additional international organizations remains ongoing."
Rubio later added, "It is no longer acceptable to be sending these institutions the blood, sweat, and treasure of the American people, with little to nothing to show for it.”
He continued, "The days of billions of dollars in taxpayer money flowing to foreign interests at the expense of our people are over."
I have to say, I am with the administration on this, and it is not necessarily because I believe climate change dangers are nonexistent. Instead, it is because these organizations spend more on travel and accommodations than they do on addressing the supposed problem. The United States has made considerable progress in terms of cleaning up its energy and manufacturing sectors, and we surely don’t need to continue to feed these organizations so they can hold a photo-op once a year for signatories to a non-binding resolution where world leaders blow hot air, all while traveling to these destinations with massive motorcades and on private jets.
