White House pushes back on Democrats’ Jan. 6 ‘gaslighting’

Yesterday was the anniversary of an ugly day in American history, but things did not occur in quite the way Democrats have claimed.

I have never held back on criticizing what took place on Jan. 6, 2021, but I have also stated that Democrats have long wanted to make the situation out to be far worse than it actually was.

So, as expected, liberals held another anniversary commemoration of the unrest, only this time, President Donald Trump punched back.

Democrats commemorate Jan. 6

As noted above, I don’t quite take the outlook that Trump has on the events of Jan. 6, in which he called the protesters and rioters “patriots,” but I also don’t think there was an “insurrection” in the way Democrats contend.

On Tuesday, Democrats hit Trump with everything they had in an effort to put the riot -- and the subsequent clemency for those involved -- back fresh in the minds of the American people.

Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) stated, “These pardons are among the most sickening things Donald Trump has done in office. His betrayal of law enforcement, of democracy, makes a mockery of the rule of law.”

There were more quotes offered along those lines, so I won’t bore you with the repetition, but something a bit more interesting this time around was the way in which Democrats got some of the rioters to speak up about what happened, saying that they thought Trump had their back, which is why they did what they did.

White House pushes back

Trump was clearly upset by the Democrats' initiative, and the White House immediately tried to reverse the narrative that they were playing up.

The White House actually created a new website to counter the Democrats' commemorative event, stating, "The Democrats masterfully reversed reality after January 6, branding peaceful patriotic protesters as ‘insurrectionists’ and framing the event as a violent coup attempt orchestrated by Trump—despite no evidence of armed rebellion or intent to overthrow the government.”

There were also posts on social media and the website itself, which aimed to place the blame for the riot on Democrats…

The website goes on to blame Democrats for staging the “real insurrection,” later adding, "All while (then-Speaker of the House Nancy) Pelosi’s own security lapses invited the chaos they later exploited to seize and consolidate power. This gaslighting narrative allowed them to persecute innocent Americans, silence opposition, and distract from their own role in undermining democracy."

Vance mocks Democrats

Even Vice President JD Vance got in on the fun, reviving some of the sombrero memes that had Democrats steaming earlier this year.

Vance was mocking the candlelight vigil at the Capitol hosted by Democrats, where Sen. Schumer stated, "We are here today because we must never forget what happened on Jan. 6 five years ago. The day democracy was placed at greater risk than it has been in a century, and more than a century."

Democracy was never at risk that day, but it was an embarrassing spectacle for the Republican Party.

At this point, I think that Jan. 6 is honestly something that just needs to be put behind us, much like the Hillary Clinton scandals, James Comey, and the rest of it. Let’s face facts here… we are never going to see justice for any of this, so why spend so much time and energy reliving it? I truly wish things were different, but I think most people are exhausted and over all of this nonsense. But I guess that is not really possible as long as politicians continue to dredge it up to create outrage across the nation.
