Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz is getting crushed by Republicans and the conservative media right now, and rightfully so.
This all started because of an independent journalist named Nick Shirley's work, and now Donald Trump has frozen federal funding to the state.
According to Walz, Trump’s plan all along was to starve and pull services from the people of Minnesota, with the governor working hard to deflect away from his own incompetence.
If you have not yet seen the video, Shirley is just a 23-year-old kid with a camera who drummed up a firestorm.
He and a local whistleblower went around to various healthcare and childcare businesses in Minnesota, and not a single one of them appeared to be open.
This made the story a national headline, to the point that local legislators are now demanding that Walz resign his position.
The media and Democrats are doing their best to deflect, but Walz is taking a beating right now.
If a state is going to give money to fraudsters, which Minnesota was and apparently still is doing, why should the federal government continue to write checks? Fix the problem, then you can have your money again.
To that point, Health and Human Services Deputy Secretary Jim O'Neill announced, "We have frozen all child care payments to the state of Minnesota. Today we have taken three actions against the blatant fraud that appears to be rampant in Minnesota and across the country."
The Small Business Administration has also cut funding, which drew a response from Walz.
He stated, "We’ve spent years cracking down on fraud -- referring cases to law enforcement, shutting down and auditing high-risk programs. Trump keeps letting fraudsters out of prison. To the national news just now paying attention, here’s what we’ve done to stop it."
Walz is now trying a different angle, hoping to get public sympathy over the fact that Trump cut federal funding for these programs, trying to make the president out as a monster rather than someone who is protecting our tax dollars.
He stated, “This is Trump’s long game. We’ve spent years cracking down on fraudsters. It’s a serious issue — but this has been his plan all along. He’s politicizing the issue to defund programs that help Minnesotans.”
Walz later added that Trump was “using an issue he doesn’t give a damn about as an excuse to hurt working Minnesotans.”
Billions… that is what the latest reports are saying is involved here. So, clean up your act, and you can get your money back. Sorry, but I feel no empathy for Walz right now. This is his mess, so let him fix it. I simply cannot even fathom how much money is wasted every year out of the trillions the American people allow the government to spend. I am sick of it. And I would imagine most people reading this report are as well.
