Media quiet after national murder rate drops by 20% under Trump

Donald Trump vowed to take action on the crime epidemic in this country when he was running for office, and he started in D.C. earlier this year.

Trump has offered federal assets to cities around the country, and it is paying off, even though Democrats have resisted him every step of the way.

One would think that a 20% drop in murders nationally would get the president a nod, but that is not really happening thus far.

The crime emergency

Trump has often offered the help of federal authorities in cities plagued by crime, but leaders in such jurisdictions always seem to turn it down. God forbid they accept something from the bad orange man.

But D.C. falls under federal purview, and after a violent crime wave hit the capital city, Trump issued an executive order to crack down on crime there.

The order was issued on August 11, and it partly stated, “Washington, District of Columbia, is our Nation’s capital and home to the central institutions of American governance.  Yet rising violence in the capital now urgently endangers public servants, citizens, and tourists, disrupts safe and secure transportation and the proper functioning of the Federal Government, and forces the diversion of critical public resources toward emergency response and security measures.”

The plan included using National Guard troops as backup for federal agents and as a deterrent in high-crime areas around the city. And it paid off, as crime rates dropped immediately.

Declaring Victory

After the summer was over, Trump declared his project a complete victory.

He stated, “It was the safest and most peaceful summer in two decades. And honestly, we haven’t really even gotten going yet.”

Trump wanted to deploy the Guard in other cities, but he keeps getting blocked by city and state officials as well as the courts (we will cover that more in our next report).

Even so, the increased presence of federal agents around the country is clearly paying dividends.

Big drop in murder rates

When people see federal agents on the streets, they are less likely to commit a crime, especially murder, and that is what we are seeing around the country.

In D.C., where the federal agents' presence has been particularly heavy, a city that often sees a murder nearly every day went weeks at one point without one.

The murder rate around the country has dropped by an astonishing 20%, AH Datalytics co-founder Jeff Asher noted, “It’s a remarkable drop in crime. [It] almost certainly fell at a historic clip in 2025, led by the largest one-year drop in murder ever recorded.”

The funny thing about all of this is that were it anyone else in office, they would receive praise from the media, but not Donald Trump. There is no question that his policies have fueled this drop, but the media just cannot bring itself to give the bad orange man any credit for anything.
