The media and Democrats have been after White House adviser Stephen Miller since the first Trump administration.
Miller never pulls punches, and he is not afraid of the criticism or attacks from Democrats, including when they call him a “Nazi,” even though he is Jewish.
The interviews Miller gives are legendary, and it would appear that the crew at CNN no longer wishes to joust with him, as the Trump insider is now claiming that he has essentially been banned by the network from making appearances.
While there was always pushback from the left against Miller, one of the more notable movements against him came from The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, which demanded that Trump remove him from the administration.
In its letter, the organization claimed, “In his role as your senior advisor, Stephen Miller has promoted hate speech spewed from neo-Nazis, bigots, and white supremacists. His advancement of white nationalist ideology has resulted in policies -- and violent acts -- that actively harm immigrants, people of color, and marginalized communities.”
The letter continued, “These policies include the devastating Muslim ban, efforts to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, a ban on transgender people serving in the military, and the family separation policy that has led to the cruel and inhumane treatment of immigrant families in detention centers throughout our nation.”
Needless to say, the effort failed, as Trump not only kept him on, but Miller also continued to work with the president after he left office, now a valued part of the second Trump administration.
I have lost track of how many Democrats have directly called or referred to Miller as a Nazi, so I will simply cite the latest remarks on the subject from Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), who just tried to deflect away from the Somali fraud scandal in her home state by taking a shot at the Trump adviser.
Miller recently blasted the Wall Street Journal for defending refugees and saying that we should not blame all for the crimes of a few. Miller responded to the report, saying, “This is the great lie of mass migration. You are not just importing individuals. You are importing societies. No magic transformation occurs when failed states cross borders. At scale, migrants and their descendants recreate the conditions, and terrors, of their broken homelands.”
When Omar was asked about those comments, she replied, “When I think about Stephen Miller and his white supremist rhetoric, it reminds me of the way the Nazis described Jewish people in Germany.”
Now, I have commented on this many times myself, and I think Miller is absolutely right in his observation. We are seeing local communities being taken over, and these migrants are demanding that we adapt to them rather than they adapting to the American way. They are trying to change our ideology to that of the countries from which they fled, rather than embracing our culture and way of life.
The last time Miller was on CNN was in early October, and the interview did not go so well for CNN News Central co-host Boris Sanchez. That was apparently the tipping point, as Miller now claims that he is no longer welcome on CNN.
When a Fox News host asked Miller if he had really been banned from appearing on CNN, the Trump adviser responded, “Yes, Sean, I think the -- I think that your decision to play the clips of me on CNN has resulted in CNN refusing to take me, so this is a completely true story.”
Miller went on to say that the White House communications team has repeatedly reached out to CNN, informing the network that he would do any show, any time, claiming that CNN responded, “We will not take him, period, for any show on any topic.” When a report suggesting the same was posted to social media, CNN responded, “Members of the administration, including Stephen Miller, are welcome to come on our air.”
My guess here is that CNN did not like being called out, so now its executives are caving and are willing to put Miller back on the air. What I would really like to see, however, are the exchanges between the White House communications team and CNN to prove Miller's claims. If you really want to shake the network up and prove its leadership to be hypocrites, that would do it.
