Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) has had a busy couple of weeks.
Greene and Donald Trump are now completely on the outs, and she has announced that she is leaving Congress. So, now she is the darling of the media.
However, in one of her recent interviews, after being repeatedly asked to grovel for forgiveness, Greene walked out in a huff, and what's more, I am now finding out she has been cozying up to the far-left activist group Code Pink.
I have watched two or three interviews that Greene has done since her split from Trump, and in every one of them, she apologized to the American people for contributing to the same toxic political environment she helped create.
Her latest interview was with a local television station, 11Alive, and she was once again asked to apologize for her past conduct, and she finally decided that enough is enough.
After repeatedly being asked for a mea culpa, Greene finally had her fill of the situation, and before walking out, she stated, “I’m sorry, but I don’t know why you have this motive. I don’t quite understand it, but I’ve already addressed it and people have thanked me, and I’m very grateful for the opportunity. But this isn’t an exercise that I should have to go through on every single interview, and it’s quite unbecoming of you to continue to have to push that.” She then thanked the interviewer and left.
On this, I am with Greene. This was just another reporter striving to force her to grovel on camera in a “gotcha” moment. The interview would have been far better if the questioner had asked what Greene plans to do moving forward, rather than getting her to apologize on camera for the fourth or fifth time.
Several days ago, Greene mentioned having met with members of Code Pink, which is a far-left activist group with alleged ties to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).
Medea Benjamin, who co-founded the organization, posted, “We visited Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene today to thank her for becoming such a strong anti war voice in congress and tell her we will miss her.”
Now, this raised a lot of questions concerning Greene's apparent friendship with someone whose organization is allegedly tied to the Chinese, is known to be very far to the left, and who calls Trump “Hitler.”
Greene has shed the MAGA label, saying that it is Trump’s phrase, but then stated that she considers herself to be America First. So, how exactly does coddling up to one of the founders of Code Pink qualify as America First?
Greene did not hide her relationship with Benjamin, posting a picture of them all together on X, adding, “I’m America First and fully against funding foreign wars and support peace because that’s good for everyone especially the most innocent people, children.”
The post continued, “I have enjoyed a friendship with Medea for a few years now even though politics says that’s not allowed. I’ve learned to find bridges with others and that’s how we all win and ultimately leads to peace.”
A profile piece on the organization several years ago found that it is heavily funded by socialist millionaire Neville Roy Singham. The group is so radical that even Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) told its members to “go back to China, where your headquarters is,” when they were protesting outside her home.
I cannot imagine that any of this is going to sit well with MAGA, which has already disowned Greene. But I would also think it could seriously impact any opportunities she seeks after leaving office. You cannot cozy up to communists and expect to be embraced by conservatives.
