You just have to love it when someone denies something they said, even when you give them a direct quote.
This is far from the first time that Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) has been caught spinning a yarn about her own past comments.
CNN’s Jake Tapper just put Crockett on the spot, and she did not like it one bit. But there is something even better than that I wanted to share with you guys today.
If you are not familiar with Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, he was injured at a young age while out on a run when he was hit by a tree, leaving him paralyzed from the waist down.
Crockett was once attempting to be funny during a public event, and she decided to call him “Governor Hot Wheels.” When she was called out on it, she insisted she was not making fun of him, but it was clear at the time exactly what she was doing.
She pulled the same type of nonsense recently regarding Jeffrey Epstein, giving a speech on the House floor claiming that EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin, among others, had taken money from a man with that name, insinuating that the donor and the pedophile were one in the same.
Again, Crockett was called out, but claimed she only said the funds came from “a” Jeffrey Epstein, not “the” Jeffrey Epstein. She is all about clicks and going viral; she is not a serious person, in my opinion.
In a profile piece about the lawmaker in Vanity Fair, Crockett stated, “The immigration thing has always been something that has perplexed me about this community … It almost reminds me of what people would talk about when they would talk about kind of like slave mentality and the hate that some slaves would have for themselves. It’s almost like a slave mentality that they have."
CNN’s Jake Tapper pointed out that a significant number of Hispanic voters cast their ballots for Donald Trump, then asked her if she thought they all had a “slave mentality.”
She responded, “No, and that’s not what that said at all, to be clear. It did not say that every Latino has that type of mentality. No, no, but slave, the ones that vote for people who believe in strong or Trump’s immigration policy. So, so I don’t believe that the people that voted for Trump believe in what they’re actually getting.”
But again, she is spinning. Her quote accuses the people who voted for Trump of having a slave mentality, and Tapper was asking to address that assertion. Instead, viewers heard another lie from someone I think is a complete and utter fraud.
Crockett, as we announced earlier in the week, is running for a Senate seat in Texas, and she somehow has the idea that Zohran Mamdani winning the mayoral race in New York City translates to a likely Senate win for her in the Lone Star State.
She stated, “Mamdani has not backed down whatsoever from his rhetoric against the president in the Oval Office. He stood -- he stood there and he said what he said about him being a fascist, yet he was able to win those voters."
Crockett continued, “So Democrats that believe the only way that you can win is by being soft and sounding like a Republican, that is not true. What people are looking for are people that are tough and are fighters and are going to fight for them.”
Now, I have been coming to Texas for nearly 50 years, and I have lived here for the last five. Crockett is also a transplant, but she has not yet figured out how the state works. Yes, there are quite a few liberals here, but this is still a red state run by oil and cattlemen, and while Dems get a little closer every year, and while I would never dismiss any campaign as a walkover, believe me, Crockett will not turn that seat blue. What happened in New York City has nothing at all to do with how Texans vote in federal elections.
