A little bit of inspiration in today’s “thought,” as an interesting quote came across my timeline today. It comes from Booker T. Washington, who stated:
"I have learned that success is to be measured not so much by the position that one has reached in life as by the obstacles which he has overcome while trying to succeed."
I bring this up after a very interesting conversation I had with a really good buddy of mine last night, as we were discussing our lives compared to those of our parents, and how we considered ourselves successful, simply because we have everything we could possibly want at this stage in our lives. That is not to say that things could not be better, but we are happy with where we are in life right now. Sadly, most people in today’s society would not view us in the same light.
So, my question to our readers relates to how you personally measure success. Is there a one-size-fits-all scale, or do you think success varies by individual and also by what obstacles a person has had to overcome to be where they are today? Click here to respond.
