Police union leader in Minnesota says fraud scandal will leave law enforcement with budget shortfall

The nation was stunned to hear about the massive fraud that took place in Minnesota, unlawfully taking more than $1 billion from public programs.

There is a lot of speculation now about where much of that money went and who is responsible.

With Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) representing a large portion of the Somali population in Minnesota, allegations are now falling in her lap, especially with reports that some of the stolen money was funneled to terrorists.

Misreading the room

One cannot help but ask how so much fraud could take place without anyone seeing it for so long.

This is especially true considering that the fraud was committed within a community in which a U.S. congresswoman has very deep ties, namely, Rep. Omar.

I just finished reading a report from Fox News detailing how Democrats' constant fear of being labeled racist likely influenced officials to look the other way when it came to wrongdoing by immigrants. They were so worried about the possibility of such allegations that nobody wanted to blow the whistle.

The report even cites a 2019 Minneapolis Star-Tribune report that labeled the state as "one of the most racially inequitable states.”

Your fault

With the overwhelming majority of the recently revealed fraud taking place in Omar’s own community, she is the one to whom people are looking for answers, and that includes Mark Ross, president of the St. Paul Police Federation, who says that the fraud scandal has taken away so much money that it will cause a shortage in police funding throughout the state.

Since 2020, his police force has been down as many as 100 officers, and he now envisions an overall shortage in the state of as many as 2,500 officers, adding, "These billions of dollars could have been spent on public safety, but it’s gone… and we’ll never see that money again."

On top of that, reports have been surfacing that money illegally taken from the state has been funneled to the terrorist group Al-Shabaab in Somalia. Randy Sutton, a police veteran and founder of The Wounded Blue, stated, "The public safety is at risk… we are in a criminal justice crisis in America. Political leadership is destroying public safety through their ideology."

Sutton also believes that crime statistics are being juked out of fear of repercussions, adding, "People are afraid to even report crime… and some police agencies aren’t reporting to the FBI. The figures are skewed. We don’t even have an accurate picture of violent crime."

Trump unloads

Donald Trump is also putting the focus on Omar, ranting about her during the first leg of his newly launched economic tour of battleground states. Trump stated, “I love this Ilhan Omar, whatever the hell her name is, with the little turban.”

Trump continued, “I love her. She comes in, does nothing but b—h.. She’s always complaining. She comes from her country, where I mean, it’s considered about the worst country in the world, right?”

The president also revived rumors that Omar married her brother in an act of immigration fraud, stating, “She married her brother to get in. Therefore, she’s here illegally. She should get the hell out. Throw her the hell out. She does nothing but complain.”

Trump's cracks aside, Omar has a big spotlight on her, especially after pictures surfaced with her and some of the known fraudsters. Considering Democrats' own standards, which they have applied to decades-old images of Trump with Jeffrey Epstein, guilt by association might be inferred. From my point of view, I don’t understand how someone so deeply embedded in the Somali community never got a whiff of the scandal. And that is the same question a lot of other people are asking today.
