Recent reports of widespread fraud have created a new narrative in Minnesota, and Donald Trump now appears ready to drop the hammer to rid the state of illegal immigrants from Somalia.
This is occurring while Democrats attempt to counter Trump’s claims with rhetoric of their own to get their followers all riled up against potential ICE raids.
The Democrats' efforts are working, as I just watched a video of ICE agents being surrounded by liberal protesters while they were doing ID checks in a Somali community in Minnesota.
About a week ago, the news wires blew up, exposing more than $1 billion in fraud that took place in Minnesota.
Prosecutions pertaining to the fraud schemes have been ongoing, with nearly five dozen convictions secured to date, but somehow, the story has been buried by the mainstream media.
When the situation was finally reported, it was revealed that COVID-19 aid and entitlement programs had been abused, largely in the Minnesota Somali community largely represented by Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN). The scandal involved a program called Feeding Our Future, with shell companies having been formed to charge for services that were never rendered.
This has all put an intense spotlight on the Somali community, especially in terms of Trump now wanting to send in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to clean house.
The situation renewed an ongoing feud between Trump and Omar, into which we will delve deeper as part of another report.
It also put a spotlight on the large Somali community in Minnesota, drawing the attention of Trump and DHS.
As reports swirled about possible raids, a Somali student in the area took to social media to threaten that he would “pop” ICE agents if they conducted enforcement actions in the area.
The student was identified as Hasan Mohamed, having posted, “ICE, I actually heard you guys pulled up to Owatonna, the big O, and you pulled up when I was not there? Y’all so p–s-ass s–t, boy. You’re gonna get popped next time I see you. Bring the whole cavalry. Yeah, boy, you guys are scared.”
Tuesday morning, it was reported that ICE agents were in a heavily Somali area checking IDs when they were suddenly surrounded by protesters who were blocking their vehicles and refusing to move.
The crowd was warned to dissipate, but still refused, so ICE agents started to pepper-spray the demonstrators.
City Council Member Jamal Osman, a Somali American who represents the neighborhood, cheered the efforts by the protesters to block ICE agents, stating, “Thank God so many people showed up there. (The agents) couldn’t get out of there because people showed up with their cars and whistles.” He later added, “I just don’t know what they accomplished today other than the chaos.”
That is a rather ironic statement because it is Osman's own efforts that created the chaos. Allow the agents to do their jobs, and they will move on without problem. We have seen these protests turn violent in some cases already, and it is only a matter of time until someone loses their life in one of these confrontations. These protests are not going to stop ICE from performing its duties. Yet, these liberals insist on dying on this hill.
