For whatever reason, most award ceremony hosting gigs always go to a Trump-hating Hollywood liberal.
The only exception to that would be comedian Ricky Gervais, who has since lost his job on the awards circuit for picking on show business stars and telling them to keep their mouths shut about social issues when they accept their toy for playing pretend for a living.
There is now another exception to the rule, namely the Kennedy Center Honors, which were just hosted by President Donald Trump.
The initial Kennedy Center show was hosted by Leonard Bernstein in 1978, with Walter Cronkite assuming the role in 1981 and holding onto it for two decades.
The revolving door started after that, with people like Caroline Kennedy, Stephen Colbert, Glenn Close, David Letterman, Gloria Estephan, and Queen Latifah all getting a shot at hosting the event.
And before you ask, yes, Cronkite was a liberal, even though he managed to hide it for most of his news career.
I would even go so far as to say that when Cronkite cracked and showed his true colors, it was the end of the media as we knew it, and the bias slowly but surely started to take over and transform networks into what we have today, which is a blatantly left-wing mainstream establishment.
Last week, Trump held an event in the Oval Office to honor the Kennedy Center recipients, all of whom seemed to be very Trump-friendly.
Sylvester Stallone, George Straight, Gloria Gaynor, and Michael Crawford were among the new class of honorees.
My favorites were Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, and Peter Criss, all original members of KISS. The only one missing was Ace Frehley, who sadly passed away earlier this year after taking a bad fall.
Even though the actual awards were presented this weekend, the show will not air on television until Dec. 23, with Trump making a prediction on the ratings. He stated, “It’s going to be something that I believe, and I’m going to make a prediction: This will be the highest-rated show that they’ve ever done and they’ve gotten some pretty good ratings, but there’s nothing like what’s going to happen.”
Trump reportedly opened the night with a bit of a joke, making sure that everyone knew about the massive remodel he had Congress approve for the Center.
He stated, “This place is hot.” He then added, “I mean, the Kennedy Center. I’m sorry. This is terribly embarrassing.” Of course, the crowd laughed.
How much time did Trump spend getting ready for the event? He answered that question, stating, “I didn’t prepare a lot. I have a good memory. You have to be yourself. Johnny Carson was always himself.”
My guess is that MAGA will tune in to see their president and to help him crush previous ratings for the event due to the liberal lean that is typical of these types of shows. With Trump as the new chair of the center and all his allies in place on the board, I suspect that will no longer be the case, at least for the next three years. I just wonder how long it will take to run out of conservative stars to honor.
