Over the last couple of days, more photos related to Jeffrey Epstein and his infamous island have been released.
And I have to be honest, I have some serious questions about the redactions that have been made to some of the images.
It would appear that Rep. James Comer (R-KY) seems to have the same concerns, slamming Democrats for cherry-picking photos they have decided to release.
House Oversight Democrats released a little video and photo tour of the Epstein island compound on social media, adding, "See for yourself. We won’t stop fighting until we end this cover-up and deliver justice for the survivors."
They continued, "This production is in response to an Oversight Committee request to the U.S. Virgin Islands Department of Justice for additional information to aid in the ongoing Committee investigation into Jeffrey Epstein’s crimes.
The Democrats added, "The Committee also received records from J.P. Morgan and Deutsche Bank. Oversight Democrats intend to release files to the public after review in the days ahead."
One of the pictures released showed Epstein’s phone, but only certain names on its speed dial list were blacked out, and I cannot help but wonder whose names they were.
A lot was made over one picture released that had a bunch of words scribbled on a chalkboard, but again, certain things were redacted.
Among the redaction marks and a few illegible scrawls were the words “political,” “plots,” “deception,” “power,” “truth,” and “music.”
Congress passed the Epstein Files Transparency Act about three weeks ago, which requires all documents to be released to Congress from the DOJ within 30 days, and there are now about 14 days left on that clock.
But Democrats are clearly trying to move the needle by selectively releasing some of these photos, a point that was not missed by Comer.
Comer blasted the Democrats for the political stunt, stating, "Ranking Member Robert Garcia and Democrats on the Oversight Committee continue to embarrass themselves.”
He continued, "Throughout the course of our investigation, Democrats have cherry-picked documents and doctored some of them, and now they are chasing headlines by slapping ‘never-before-seen’ on images and video that were reported by O’Keefe Media Group months ago. The only thing ‘never-before-seen’ is such a reckless Ranking Member."
And he’s right, as just about all the information Democrats have been releasing was already declassified, so this is nothing new.
It will start to get interesting once the DOJ turns over the remainder of the files, and we hopefully see who or what everyone has been trying to protect. But I am not getting my hopes up because I believe all the really damaging information has already found its way into a burn bag.
