Ever since taking over the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Secretary Kristi Noem has been on the warpath.
The recent shooting in D.C. that resulted in one National Guard member's death and serious injuries to another turned the heat up even further.
To that point, Noem has recommended instituting a full travel ban on nations that, according to the secretary, are flooding our country with “killers, leeches, and entitlement junkies.”
One of the first things Noem did after her confirmation was to issue a warning to anyone considering entering the country illegally, as well as those who had already done so.
Noem took out an ad telling illegals to deport voluntarily or face the consequences.
The ad stated, “Thank you, President Donald J. Trump, for securing our border and putting America first. President Trump has a clear message: if you are here illegally, we will find you and deport you. You will never return.”
Noem's message continued, “But if you leave now, you may have an opportunity to return and enjoy our freedom and live the American Dream. If you are a criminal alien considering entering America illegally: Don’t even think about it. If you come here and break our laws, we will hunt you down. Criminals are not welcome in the United States.”
A lot is going on regarding the individual who allegedly shot the National Guard members in D.C. The controversy surrounds his entry into the country during the Biden administration, though he reportedly received asylum from officials during the Trump administration.
FBI Director Kash Patel claimed that Biden did “zero vetting” of refugees brought in from Afghanistan amid the chaotic U.S. withdrawal from their country, but that take is being challenged in the media, citing a statement made by Alejandro Mayorkas, then President Joe Biden's Homeland Security secretary.
At the time, he stated, "Prior to entering the United States, Afghan evacuees must successfully complete a rigorous and multi-layered screening and vetting process that includes biometric and biographic screenings conducted by intelligence, law enforcement, and counterterrorism professionals from multiple federal agencies.”
Now, we have reported prior that Mayorkas had admitted that not all refugees were fully vetted before leaving Afghanistan, but other former administration officials have stated that these refugees were vetted when they were put into holding sites after the evacuation of Afghanistan.
Noem now appears ready to block all travel from all countries that she has associated with nefarious activity.
She posted to X, “I just met with the President. I am recommending a full travel ban on every damn country that’s been flooding our nation with killers, leeches, and entitlement junkies.”
Her post continued, “Our forefathers built this nation on blood, sweat, and the unyielding love of freedom — not for foreign invaders to slaughter our heroes, suck dry our hard-earned tax dollars, or snatch the benefits owed to AMERICANS,” the DHS chief continued. “WE DON’T WANT THEM. NOT ONE.”
Trump’s previous travel bans were heavily litigated, and I am sure this one would be as well, likely the very moment it goes into effect, if it ever does. Dems will claim Trump is throwing out the baby with the bathwater, but his supporters will not see it that way. At this point, it remains unclear who is responsible for passing the D.C. shooter through the system, but it has been made very clear that the structure in place is not working and needs to be revamped.
