DHS Secretary Kristi Noem has been lobbing some major bombs at former President Joe Biden and officials from his administration over the fact that Rahmanullah Lakanwal entered this country on their watch.
Lakanwal is the alleged shooter who murdered one National Guard member and left a second in critical condition last week.
Now, Noem is claiming that Lakanwal was radicalized after arriving in the United States, but this could get ugly if she keeps pushing that narrative.
I would be the first person to agree that vetting of foreign entrants during the Biden administration was not what it was supposed to be.
Furthermore, U.S. officials were allegedly greasing the path for Afghans who had worked with our military or intelligence agencies during the years our troops spent in their country, which Lakanwal did.
The White House recently commented on Biden’s vetting process, stating, "This animal would've never been here if not for Joe Biden's dangerous policies which allowed countless unvetted criminals to invade our country and harm the American people.”
The statement continued, "The Trump Administration is taking every measure possible -- in the face of unrelenting Democrat opposition -- to get these monsters out of our country and clean up the mess made by the Biden Administration."
Nobody is denying that Lakanwal was a CIA asset during the war, and his likely put him in the category that received less than stringent vetting.
We just reported the other day about how lax the vetting was when American officials were removing people from the Afghan theater, oftentimes giving them benefits that American citizens were receiving during the vetting process.
Biden just wanted to rush people out of the country, so the standards were relaxed, something that even former DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas admitted.
Now, in real-time, even I advocated for helping allies and assets leave the country, but it should have been done after all American citizens left, and it surely should have been after thorough vetting. As I stated the other day, it would not shock me at all to learn that terrorists slipped their operatives into this mix for the sole purpose of getting them into our country.
Now, Noem is saying that Lakanwal was radicalized here in the U.S., but this could backfire on her in a big way.
She stated, “I will say we believe he was radicalized since he’s been here in this country. We do believe it was through connections in his home community and state, and we’re going to continue to talk to those who interacted with him.”
Noem continued, “So far, we’ve had some participation. We will never allow this to continue to happen in our country, allow individuals who came to our country that were unvetted by Joe Biden, allowed to run free and loose.”
I say this could backfire because it has been reported that Lakanwal had his asylum request approved during the second Trump administration. If that was the case, the media and Democrats are going to put this on the current president, not the last one. Point being, if he was properly vetted by this administration, how did officials not realize that he had been radicalized at some point after his arrival? Before making additional statements on the matter, I would suggest that Noem and company seek assurance that there are no other problematic ties to this administration. Otherwise, everything they say will be a billboard ad for Democrats.
