Thought of the Day
For some reason, a comment made by Elon Musk has been floating around in my head about the nature of bureaucracy in this country. During a visit to the White House, Musk stated:
“We really have here rule of the bureaucracy as opposed to rule of the people — democracy. I think we do need to delete entire agencies as opposed to leave a lot of them behind. If we don’t remove the roots of the weed, then it’s easy for the weed to grow back.”
Musk, along with many others, has called the government bureaucracy the “fourth branch of the government,” and he is right. We have far too many non-elected officials setting policy behind the scenes, without allowing the American people a say. Trump can trim down agencies all he wants, but as Musk stated, if we do not pull the roots of the weed, it will only grow back (likely as soon as Democrats take back the White House).
