Thought of the Day

I went to see “F1” this weekend, and there is a great comment from Brad Pitt’s character, Sonny Hayes, calling out Joshua Pierce (played by Damson Idris), who was demanding accolades for his fight to get to where he was in the racing world, without having scored a single point during the season.

Hayes tells him, “Where I come from, they call that a participation trophy.” With all of Kamala Harris’ talk about equity and equality, it reminded me of a quote from a famed economist, Milton Friedman, who stated, "A society that puts equality before freedom will get neither. A society that puts freedom before equality will get a high degree of both."

Point being, when one champions freedom and the creation of opportunities, it benefits all, as opposed to a society that forces opportunity in the name of equity and equality. That weakens society, eventually leading to one that fails and must rely on the government. Does that sound familiar to anyone?
