In a letter to John Norvell in 1807, Thomas Jefferson wrote, "Nothing can now be believed which is seen in a newspaper. Truth itself becomes suspicious by being put into that polluted vehicle." As we see the cancellation of Stephen Colbert’s late-night TV show and the exposure of more lies about supposed Russian collusion in 2016, it once again proves just how insightful our Founding Fathers were. The media could not be trusted then, and it surely cannot be trusted today.
