My “thought” today centered around the idea that both sides of the aisle love to use a crisis in order to extend the reach of the government. Today’s comment is from Harvey B. out of Kentucky, who responded:
“It seems like every time there is a big crisis in this country, the politicians don't even wait for the dust to settle before they start writing new laws to restrict what regular folks can do. They always wrap it up in fancy speeches about keeping us safe or fixing the economy, but when the emergency is over, they never give that power back.
“We just keep losing a little more of our independence every single time, while Washington gets bigger and more bloated. I wish they would spend less time using troubles as an excuse to grab power and more time trusting the American people to handle things.”
