I will be the first person to tell you that Trump should not have his picture on the 250th Anniversary passport edition. I would have preferred someone like George Washington or the Declaration of Independence, the Liberty Bell, or a collective of our Founding Fathers.
That said, Newsom trolling Trump in this manner is why he is crashing in polling. You cannot emulate the man you make out to be a demon and expect people to fall in line with you. His obsession with Trump is disturbing, to say the least.

Today’s “thought” was inspired by a quote from C.S. Lewis regarding the desire of the left to take away our rights in the name of safety, as if they know what is best for us. Today’s reader comment on the subject comes from Daniel R. out of South Carolina. He replied:
“The nanny-state mentality is exactly what we have seen during every manufactured crisis over the last few years. They package their unconstitutional overreach as public safety, and suddenly you need a government permission slip just to run your small business or manage your own healthcare. Lewis was completely right about the danger of moral busybodies, but the real issue is not just the Democrats pushing this dependency.
“It is how quickly a massive chunk of the country willingly surrenders their constitutional rights the second they get scared. We cannot just blame the bureaucrats for offering a false safety blanket if half the population is eagerly wrapping themselves in it. We need our elected representation to permanently strip away these emergency executive powers. It is time to deliver a decisive, offensive victory against the administrative state so they can never again use our own well-being as a weapon to dictate our lives.”
