Today’s “thought” was about the American people being manipulated to see what they would tolerate to take away rights or allow themselves to be abused in a variety of ways. Then I leaned into what happened after 9/11 in terms of the invasion of privacy that was so willingly accepted by everyone. Today’s comment comes from Michael P. from Arizona, who responded:
“I remember the Patriot Act debates vividly. We handed over our Fourth Amendment rights because we were terrified, and the federal bureaucracy never gave that power back. The Left runs this exact playbook today. Every time they want to strip away our liberties—whether it is tracking our bank accounts, shutting down small businesses, or regulating what we drive—they package it as a necessary public safety measure. They expect us to quietly submit just like Douglass warned. But the problem isn't just the Democrats; it is that too many of our own representatives often go along with it to avoid looking soft on whatever crisis is currently dominating the news cycle.
“We cannot just complain about the surveillance state online. We need our elected representation to actually repeal these unconstitutional acts, gut the alphabet agencies, and deliver a decisive, offensive victory for American privacy rights. We have to stop trading our constitutional freedoms for the illusion of government protection.”
