Today’s thought was about Democrats and liberals living in fantasyland with their freebies, and I wanted to give a liberal a chance to make their case, so today’s comment comes from Philip W. from Bernie Sanders’ home state of Vermont, who responded:

“The author's definition of ‘reality’ seems to conveniently ignore the lived reality of millions of Americans who lack basic healthcare and housing. It's not a ‘fantasy’ to believe we should invest in the well-being of our citizens; the real fantasy is believing a society can prosper by letting its people suffer."

“And if we're talking about ‘writing checks’ and digging a ‘debt hole,’ let's be realistic about the primary drivers: massive, unpaid-for tax cuts for corporations and the wealthy, and a bloated defense budget. Conservatives only seem to remember ‘reality’ when it comes to helping working families.”

Can you sense the anger in the tone of that response, which, by the way, is filled with a lot of misinformation. For instance, the top 1% of this country pay more than 40% of all tax revenue, yet Democrats say they are ones getting all the tax breaks.

We can go back to the bogus narrative on Trump’s tax cuts that Democrats say “only” helped the rich. Income data published by the IRS showed that filers with an adjusted gross income of between $15,000 and $50,000 received a tax cut of between 16% and 26%, so, once again, misinformation is being pumped out by the left. But thanks for the comment, Philip, as you helped me make my point. You live in a fantasyland created by Democrats and the mainstream media.
