“My favorite memory has to be June 12, 1987, standing in front of the Brandenburg Gate. The ‘experts’ and diplomats begged him to soften his language, but Reagan refused. He stood there and demanded, ‘Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!’ It still sends chills down my spine.
“That moment defined who he was: a man who knew the difference between right and wrong and wasn't afraid to say it out loud. Whether he was staring down the Soviet Union or defending the unborn when it wasn't politically popular, he had a moral backbone that is sorely missing in Washington today.”
